This position is for skilled fabricators that have experience in MIG, TIG, Stick, and structural steel weldments.  Fabricator must be able to read blueprints and drawings; plan layouts and procedures; determine what welding equipment and methods to use based on requirements; set-components to specifications; prepare and align parts for welding; join together components, repair hold and cut through materials using specialized welding equipment; repair machinery; inspect surfaces and structures; and maintain equipment.  Benefits include health insurance, vacation and holiday pay and 401K plan with company matching.  

 

Mechanical assembly experience is required. 

 

Weld Tests: Candidates will be required to take 2 weld tests.

Test 1: Candidates will complete a butt weld, downhill, and uphill weld. They will also do a pipe to plate joint.

Test 2: Candidates will be required to interpret a blueprint and fabricate a frame. The completed frame must be square within 1/16 inch tolerance.

Note: The ability to read blueprints and accurately square a frame using diagonal measurements is essential for this position. Candidates who are not proficient in these skills will not be considered a fit for the role.

Requirements:

– Qualifications in AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code, FCAW-GS, and GMAW/Spray Arc welding are required.  If you do not have the qualifications prior to employment, you will be required to obtain the qualifications within 6 weeks of you start date. 

– Must be able to interpret engineering drawings

– Must be able to perform MIG, TIG, Stick (preferred), and structural steel weldments

– Mechanical assembly 

– Familiar with pipe weldments.  All aspects with various alloys

– Must be able to use the computer software to clock in and out of work and in/out of jobs

–  Must be proficient in the use of measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers and micrometers

–  Must be proficient in welding mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum

 

Additional qualities that would be very useful (but not all are necessary):

– The ability to operate a plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene torch, iron worker, saw, shear

– Knowledge of weld repair of cast iron

– Knowledge of hard chrome plating

– Knowledge and experience using a lathe(preferred), hy-definition plasma CNC table operation, press brake, roller, and mill(preferred)

 

Physical requirements:

– Able to lift 70 lbs

– Able to work on your feet 8-10 hours a day

 

Experience Required/(Preferred)

-3 years of welding experience required 

-Welding certificate  (preferred)

-License or certification required: Valid Driver’s License

-Education required: High School or equivalent required
