Pressure relief valves are a critical component of any blower pressure system. Positive displacement blowers provide a constant volume of air, so an unexpected blockage in the line can quickly cause a build up of pressure that could lead to equipment failure. Protect your personnel and your equipment by installing a pressure relief valve that will allow excess pressure to relieve to atmosphere or a discharge line.
Blower pressure relief valves are available in weight loaded and spring loaded design.
- Weighted style relief valves have a weighted cap that rides on top of a piston; when the system pressure raises above the desired set point the cap is lifted exposing vents that allow the air to escape. The desired relief point is determined by the number of weighted plates on the cap. The weighted relief valves are very simple in function and require minimal maintenance.
- Spring loaded relief valves contain an internal spring that holds the valve closed. When the system pressure raises above the desired set point the spring is compressed allowing air to pass through the valve, venting either to atmosphere or into a discharge line.
