The Roots Blower URAI-G™ units are designed with mechanical seals for gas applications. They are available in 12 different models which feature the “universal” mounting feet which allow them to be mounted in four different configurations.
The Roots Blower URAI-G™ unit is available in 12 different models. All models feature the “universal” mounting feet which allow it to be mounted in four different configurations. The unit is center-timed so that it may be operated in either direction. The unit features grease lubrication on the drive end and oil lubrication on the gear end.
Flow Range: 32 CFM to 1583 CFM
Pressure Range: 1 psi to 15 psi
Vacuum Range: 1″ to 16″Hgg (Dry)
The basic Roots Blower URAI-G model consists of a cast iron casing, carburized and ground alloy steel spur timing gears secured to steel shafts with a taper mounting and locknut, and cast iron involute impellers. Oversized antifriction bearings are used, with a cylindrical roller bearing at the drive shaft to withstand V-belt pull. Units utilize mechanical seals with purge capability

Roots Gas Blower Policy
“If Roots blowers are handling hazardous gases (for example gases that are combustible or toxic), it is the obligation of the system designer and end user to ensure appropriate safeguards and protections are applied for safe installation, operation, and maintenance.
Roots models URAI-G & RAM-GJ gas blowers utilize mechanical seals (instead of typical lip seals) to minimize gas leakage into the vented oil bearing chambers.
The mechanical seals will leak to some degree. The Roots model URAI-G and RAM-GJ model gas blowers may be purged between the headplate seal and mechanical seals to help mitigate gas leakage.
The system designer and end user shall ensure the gas blower system design and operation complies with all applicable codes and standards for intended areas and applications.
GE is not responsible for the effects of corrosion, erosion, or build-up. For further information please refer to the Instruction Manual. Updated IO&M to follow”
A conventional positive displacement moves a gas from the inlet to the discharge of the cylinder as illustrated below:
