Our punching capability has evolved to bring more customization options to our projects. While lasers are commonly used for straightforward hole-punching projects, a CNC punch offers effects that lasers can’t. The machine our fabricators most commonly use is the Euromac MTX Flex 6 Hybrid 1250/30-2500 (rated for 30-tons). It is unique from laser in its capability to emboss and create raised surfaces—the three-dimensional shapes of louvres, vents and handles. We regularly use this capability to make 3D shapes for our guards and enclosure liners.
The Euromac is also more efficient than laser for making thousands of holes at a time. A computer interface, using Metalix software, guides this hydraulic machinery to create precise 3D shapes. Our designers work with carbon steel sheets up to 1/4″ thick and stainless up to 3/16″ thick. The working area is 1250 mm (slightly over 4′) x 2500 mm (slightly over 8′). More working area can be accessed if raw material can be rotated 180 degrees. We also use a 50-ton ironworker machine for manual punching of components in blower packages.
